Salt Therapy For Kids

March 22nd, 2016

If your child is suffering you want to find anyway to alleviate their pain. It’s just natural as a parent that you want your child to be healthy and happy as much as possible. Having allergies, asthma, or other breathing issues as a kid can be tough to deal with. Sometimes a very young child doesn’t understand why they are so miserable with symptoms that are difficult for anyone to deal with. Sneezing, stuffy nose, trouble breathing, itchy eyes, and coughing are all symptoms of someone who has environmental allergies.

Some Allergies That Cause Problems

Pet allergies including hair and dander, environmental factors such as pollen, ragweed, dust, mold, and a litany of other possible allergens can make a child’s life very difficult. Finding the right treatment is key to a better quality of life for them. Having severe allergy problems can make it harder for a child to concentrate and do well in school. Being in an allergy fog for a kid is hard for them to describe. It’s hard as a parent to witness your child being sick. You’ll do whatever you can to make them feel better. Seeing an allergy doctor can help determine what exactly is causing the problems in your child’s allergy-wise. You might decide that Salt Therapy is exactly the kind of treatment that will help manage some of their allergy symptoms.

An Easy Session For A Child

When the child enters the salt room at The Salt Suite it’s an easy 45 minute session. They can play with a toy, read a book, or if you have a tablet they love to play apps on, they can even bring that in as well. The room is geared towards children, so they won’t even know that they are breathing in the helpful aerosol salt air. They will just feel so much better afterwards, that you will notice a significant difference. This is very true after a few sessions, because the benefits increase each time they undergo the treatment. The staff also disinfects everything after each therapy session between children, so you don’t have to worry about them picking up any extra germs.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Other then feeling better, not at all. You or your child may feel a slightly salty taste on your lips as you leave the room shortly after. That’s nothing to be worried about. Just know that the helpful salt air has done its job in helping with your child’s allergy symptoms. You’ll be able to notice a difference in their breathing right away. Wheezing is reduced, and they will be less stuffy after the Halotherapy treatment.

Do They Have To Wear Anything Special?

Your child doesn’t have to wear anything special, just loose, clean clothing they are comfortable hanging around in with a pair of socks. We have them take off their shoes in order to keep the room as sterile as possible with less outside dirt brought in. For children with long hair, simply tie their hair back with a ponytail holder, so that its out of their face to facilitate easier breathing.
