Halotherapy Around the World

All around the world people have been using salt therapy or Halotherapy for a variety of reasons It’s not exclusive to the United States in anyway, and for hundreds of years this has been an all natural treatment option that can do wonders for the body. Some of the countries with this important treatment originated are Poland, Russia, and The Ukraine.

What Is Halotherapy

Halotherapy is the use of salt to aid breathing and other immune system problems. Allergies are made better, asthma can be helped, and skin conditions are improved when a person undergoes salt therapy in a controlled environment. The room that it takes place in is coated in salt. They pump salt particles through the air, and the walls can be sometimes lined with salt particles. The person then breathes in this purified salt air to let it work the magic. This is meant to mimic the salt caves that were used in Eastern Europe.

Salt Caves In Eastern Europe

For many centuries now in Easter Europe people have sat in natural salt caves. One such example is caves located in Poland. The Wieliczka Salt Mines have long produced the type of salt that is beneficial to humans. The natural salt caves there are still a popular tourist attraction today. They even have a health spa that is located way underground there that offers a chamber called Lake Wessel with therapeutic benefits. Many other Polish health resorts offer this type of salt therapy that imports salt from the Black Sea as well as the underground salt mines.

Russia Knows Its Salt

Yekaterinburg, Russia has a unique underground salt cave that lies in a deserted salt mine. Many people travel there to experience these medicinal caves for sinus and respiratory conditions but also it is said to have “psychedelic properties.” The salt deposits which date back millions and millions of years ago to the Permian Period, can be said to have caused people to hallucinate when down there for a significant amount of time. These caves are now off limits to the general public.

The Ukraine Has Turned Salt Into Big Business

In western Ukraine the salt mines that are below Solution are said to have helped many people in the area with their asthma and respiratory problems. There is now a luxury spa clinic on the property where people venture down 300 meters into the healing mineral space. The temperature underground stays a comfortable 72 degrees year round which makes it the perfect place to have repeated treatments for the best results. Today the staff at the clinic estimate they get about 6,000 visitors each year.

As you can see salt therapy has been embraced for its healing properties all over the world. Halotherapy has a proven track record in many different countries. For Americans, people are becoming excited to see just how much this natural treatment  can do for them.
